Cupcake Party

We had our families over this weekend for cupcakes and ice cream to celebrate Cole's 2nd birthday.
We are planning to have a swimming party for him this summer, so we did something low key just so we could sing and celebrate.  I know it seems kinda funny to weird to wait until this summer for a party, but it is hard to plan something in the winter.  Cole loves to swim, so I decided even before I was on bed rest that a summer party would be best.
We went to Dr. Pielop this morning for his 2 year check up.  Cole is in the 49% for height and finally made the charts on weight with a whopping 19.8 pounds in the 2%.  Dr. Pielop was very impressed with his vocabulary.  I am such the nerdy mom and I made a list of all his words--he has 185 words that he uses by himself, without being prompted.  Cole has many more words that he will regularly repeat.  The saddest and hardest part of the appt was when Cole had to get blood taken out of his arm! What?? I thought the finger prick was going to bad and I was shocked when they said they had to do it from his arm.  I think I was 25 before I ever had blood taken from my arm.  He actually did really well.  Thank goodness my mom was there to help!

Of course I didn't take any pictures of the set up or cute cupcake toppers.  Then my camera battery ran out half way through so my sister-in-law took took the rest of the pictures.  I will add those as soon as I get them.

Headed to the Lease

Cy and Cole just left to go feed the horses and run the dogs.
Cole is obsessed with horses these days. His favorite is "Anus" aka "Amos"!
He loves to feed them carrots.  As soon as you mentioned the word horse, he immediately launches into "Anus, horsie, feed, tarrot (carrot), bite, mmmmm".
He loves to watch the dogs also, but doesn't like to get too close.  He prefers to watch through the window.
He can name most of the dogs--Tex, Moosh (Moose), Bruder (Brother), Cy, Pete--eventhough we don't own him anymore.  As he looks through the window he says over and over, "Sit, Stay, Bartking (Barking), hush up, no-no, tennel (kennel)"
Cole cracks us up these days-he is such a little talker and repeats everything!!
I am here in bed while the boys are out playing.  I am 27 weeks pregnant today.  Praise the Lord that we made it another week. :)  We are so thankful.

Christmas 2010

So, this blog isn't exactly in order.  But, I thought while I have time I would post our Christmas.
We had a great Christmas celebrating with both of our families.
Cole was spoiled rotten and got so many toys that I made our moms return some of the gifts!
Am I the meanest mom around??  Cole hardly pays attention to his toys.  All he wants to do is walk around and clean out the drawers.

Official Bed rest

Well, the day has come that my doctor recommended bed rest.
I am 26 weeks and 4 days pregnant and will spend the remainder of this pregnancy in bed.
I am thankful that I will be at home and not in the hospital.
I am allowed to stand up for 15 minutes every hour, but other than that I have to be sitting or laying down.
I am not allowed to pick up Cole at all, so I have to have someone here at all times.
Our parents have already stepped up to help and I am so thankful that we live so close to our families.
Our wonderful housekeeper is also going to help so much.
We are praying that this precious baby will stay  put for at least 10 more weeks.

He loves to wear hats and have everyone else wear them too.  He will put them on and then say, "mirror, mirror".  It cracks me up!

Can You Believe I Started a Blog???

I know, I know, I never thought I would have my own blog!! But, after reading friend's blogs for years now, I decided I should channel some of that time into creating memories for my own family.

I haven't learned all how to do all the cutesy designs yet, (maybe I need to hire someone to do that!), but I thought I would get my ideas down and go from there.

I have been writing on CaringBridge for the past 2 years to journal our path with Cole since his birth.  I have archived those posts on this blog too.  The Lord has done amazing works in Cole's life and I don't feel that CaringBridge is appropriate for us anymore--praise Jesus!

I am now 25 weeks pregnant with our second son and I want to journal as our lives are about to change from a family of 3 to a family of 4!

So, this blog will a scrapbook for us.  I do hope that some of you enjoy reading about our everyday life and our once in awhile adventures.

Here is to a new chapter!

MONDAY, APRIL 19, 2010 9:03 AM, CDT

Dear Family and Friends,
  We wanted to let you know that Cole will have eye surgery on Wednesday.  The surgery will correct his strabismus, crossed eyes.
It is a routine surgery for the dr., but we are still nervous about it.
The surgery will take approximately 45 minutes and we should be home after a few hours.
The surgery schedule isn't finalized until the night before. So, we won't know Cole's time until tomorrow night.  We are praying that he is early in the morning.  He won't be able to eat 12 hours before surgery so it will be really difficult if we are scheduled in the afternoon.
Please pray that Cole would be one of the first on the schedule.
Please also pray for wisdom for Dr. Coats and that Cole would breeze through the anesthesia and would come off the vent easily.
We will update again tomorrow night once we know about the schedule.
