“The Longer the blessing is in coming, the sweeter it will be when it arrives. That which is gained speedily by a single prayer is sometimes only a half weighted blessing but that which is gained after a tug and many an awful struggle is a full-weighted and a precious blessing. The blessing that costs us the most in prayer will be worth the most.” Charles Haddon Spurgeon
Our Son, our precious son and our full weighted blessing, is coming home to us tomorrow! April 14th will be three years of trial, emotional turmoil and prayerful pursuit of this most precious gift. Someone once told me that coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous. I find it so ironic that Cole is coming home to us on Good Friday. The same day that Jesus Christ, according to the bible, made it possible for those who believe in Him to one day experience the same thing Cole will experience tomorrow… Coming Home! Allison told me last April 14th, which is her birthday, that all she wanted for her 30th was a baby. So, Happy Birthday Momma....
It appears that Cole will not need the shunt the doctors assured us he would need to reduce the excess fluid that was collecting on his brain. When the doctor put in the reservoir I asked if this could be a temporary situation in which this apparatus could one day be removed. He assured me that once a reservoir goes in, it will ultimately lead to a shunt. He may be right in most cases but he did not consider our Jesus. He is capable of doing whatever he wants whenever he wants, which includes saving a wretch like me with his own blood on the cross. Cole may end up needing more help as he grows, but we know that he will be exactly what God wants him to be and tomorrow he is coming home without a shunt!
As Allison and I walked the valley laid before us we told God that we wanted to be faithful no matter what he presented to us. Our prayer has been that when we stand before him to give an account for our lives that he would be able to say to us “well done”, “well done my good and faithful servants”. I am not sure that we have accomplished this, but our hope is that those who do not know Jesus may come to know him through our suffering. We are so thankful for our friends and family and for all of you who prayed for us during this time. Tomorrow Allison and I will celebrate our baby boy coming home and our Lord and Savior sacrificing himself on a cross in order to bring us into his home.
Thank you so much for your love and prayers and please join us this Easter weekend in praising the Lord for hearing our prayers and for his provision of salvation. Having this hope gives us great peace as we look forward to seeing our Kate and our Jesus one day. God does not always say yes to our petitions but he always answers them. We are so Thankful he said yes to the thousands of who pleaded with Him for Cole....
We love you all in Christ Jesus!
Cy and Allison
