Hi! I talked to Ali this morning and she said that they ended up doing the ultrasound last night! So glad they didn't have to wait all night for today and were able to get some restful sleep!
The ultrasound revealed that the bleed has not gotten worse! The ventricles (forgive me if I'm getting my medical terminology wrong) around the brain were swollen only a small bit with fluid, which is an awesome praise! The dr. did a spinal tap yesterday to remove some of the fluid and relieve some of the pressure. Dr. Thompson was very pleased with the results of the spinal tap. More spinal taps might be needed in the future to continue to relieve pressure. The dr. said they wouldn't expect the bleed to go down in just 2 days and they will know more in the next few weeks. His next scheduled ultrasound is early Monday morning.
He is growing so well and is taking 10cc's of milk (update-now 12 cc's of milk!) at his feedings -- they are SO happy about his progress and growth! Yesterday Cole weighed 2 lb and 3 oz.-back to his birth weight!
Our prayers are being answered!
I'm just so proud of them and how they are handling everything -- I could only hope I could go through a situation that they are facing with the faith and hope that they have. God is definitely showing us more of Himself through Ali, Cy, and Cole!!!
And He's giving them lots of encouragement and daily reminders, too -- neat example -- Cole's nursery theme has to do with Frogs and they learned that it means Fully Rely On God!!!!!
