Hi Friends and Family-
I am so excited to report that Cole is making great progress!  I think he is going through a "learning spurt" right now.  The therapists have told us that most kids do experience these spurts when everything seems to come together.  It is so exciting to watch Cole every day.
He has new braces for his legs that help with his walking.  He now has fancy tennis shoes too!  The PT and OT both told me this week that they are so impressed with Cole's walking.  He has a good gait and takes steps right, left.  His balance is his biggest hurdle.  He can walk fairly well as long as we hold him by the waist.  He is very curious and wants to get into anything and everything.  I guess that is a typical toddler. :)
His speech is improving too.  He now can point to his head, eye, nose, mouth, ear, belly, knee and foot.  His vocabulary consists of shoe, bee, knee, dog, Mommy, Papa, bye-bye, all gone, hat, more, eye, bird, deer, book, please, ball, and yeah.  Some words are easier to understand than others, but he can get his point across. He knows the animal sounds for dog, cow and cat.
His biggest struggle is still his left hand.  He uses his left arm, but keeps his left hand fisted most of the time. He wears a brace that is helping keep his hand open.
And now the biggest news....Cole is going to be a BIG BROTHER!!!
We are SO excited and amazed at the blessing that the Lord has given us!  Most of you know that Cy and I struggled with infertility for nearly 3 years.  We did 4 rounds of IVF to get pregnant with the twins.  We always thought we wanted our family to be bigger, so we had talked about adoption or going down the fertility road again.
Well, the Lord had another plan in mind!
Our church had a service on May 23, 2010 that addressed infertility.  At the end of the sermon, our pastor, Gregg Matte, invited couples who were dealing with infertility to come to the altar rails.  The entire church prayed for these couples.  As soon as Pastor Gregg gave the invitation, I was ready to go down front.  It was a very powerful and special time. I came home and put a star on my calendar on that Sunday.
To spare you the details, I got pregnant 2 short months later in July! No fertility treatments this time!  After feeling sick in the mornings for over a week, I finally decided to take a pregnancy test-well, actually 3 tests!  They were all positive!
My doctor's office suggested I do blood work just to make sure since they were in shock as well.  I went the dr. the Friday before Labor Day and found out that I was already 7 weeks pregnant!!
I will be 11 weeks tomorrow and my due date is April 22, 2011.  April 22, 2011 is Good Friday.  It will also be the 2 year anniversary since Cole came home from the hospital.  Just another sweet reminder that the Lord has a perfect plan.
I would appreciate your prayers for a healthy, full term pregnancy with no complications.  We are going to take some precautions this time to help ward off pre-term labor.  My dr. has assured me that a singleton pregnancy is much different than a twin pregnancy.
Thank you for continuing to care for our family.  We appreciate your prayers more than we could ever express.
"Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion.  For the Lord is a God of justice.  Blessed are all who wait for Him!" Isaiah 30:18

Love,
Ali, Cy and Cole
